CutLogic 2D provides several ways to export cutting plans and other data. You can generate G-code for CNC machines, create CSV and XML files using Custom Exports, save cutting layouts as DXF drawings, export reports in a range of formats, and export edgebands for 1D optimization.

G-code export

CutLogic 2D generates G-code from optimized cutting layouts for CNC cutting, marking, and engraving. Machine settings control the cutting path, feeds, power or spindle speed, and features such as leads, tabs, and multiple passes.

To export G-code, select the optimized plan and open File > Machines. Select the machine, check its settings, and generate the G-code. You can also use File > Export > Export cutting layouts to G-code files, which uses the currently selected machine.

Each cutting layout is exported to a separate file. Before running the code on your CNC machine, review it and ensure that the machine settings and code blocks match your controller and job requirements.

Custom Exports

Custom Exports provide a flexible way to export cutting plans and other data to CSV and XML files for use in other applications or production equipment. Supplied exports include Layout parts, which exports the parts in cutting layouts, and Plan to XML, which exports an entire cutting plan, including its cutting layouts.

To view and configure exports, open File > Export > Custom Exports or press Ctrl+E. You can use the supplied exports, modify them, or create your own. Custom SQL queries let you select the data to export and define its structure to suit the receiving application or equipment.

Exports can run manually or automatically when a plan is optimized, opened, or closed. Frequently used exports can also be made available in File > Export. Output can be saved to a file or sent to a physical or virtual serial port.

DXF export

CutLogic 2D exports cutting layout drawings to DXF files for use in CAD applications and further processing. In Program Options > DXF export, you can choose which objects to include, such as stocks, parts, cuts, and information about parts and layouts, and assign them to separate layers. You can also enable automatic DXF export after optimization by specifying an output folder.

To export DXF files, select the optimized plan and choose File > Export > Export cutting layouts to DXF files. Each cutting layout is exported to a separate file.

Report export

Any supplied or custom report can be exported to a file for sharing, printing, or further processing. Supported formats include PDF, Excel (XLSX), Word (DOCX), ODT, ODS, RTF, HTML, CSV, TXT, JPG, and PNG. JPG and PNG are particularly useful for exporting individual labels.

To export a report, open the relevant section, such as Plans or Materials, and choose File > Reports or press Ctrl+P. Select the report, adjust its options, and click Export. Choose the output format, review the export settings, and specify the filename and folder.

CSV export through reports uses the selected report as its source. For more control over the exported data and its structure, use Custom Exports.

When using fractional length format, export the Cutting layouts report to CSV rather than XLSX so Excel recognizes the dimensions as fractions.

To save cutting layout pictures as individual image files, export a report containing them to HTML. In the HTML export settings, select the desired image format, such as PNG or JPG. The layout pictures are saved as separate files alongside the HTML output.

Edgeband export

CutLogic 2D exports edgeband requirements from selected plans to a CSV file for further optimization in CutLogic 1D.

To export edgebands, select one or more plans and choose File > Export > Export edgebands to CSV file. Adjust Type and Options as needed, then click Export.
