1. Install Firebird SQL database server (free open-source)
You can install Firebird on any Windows 10 / 11 / Server 2016+ computer connected to your LAN. Firebird is lightweight and does not require high-performance server hardware.
Installing and using Firebird requires no DBA knowledge or maintenance. During installation, keep all default settings - just click Next until it finishes.
•Download and install Firebird 2.5.9 Win64 (10 MB) from
https://www.firebirdsql.org/en/firebird-2-5/
•Open the file C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_2_5\aliases.conf and add this line to the end:
TMachines.CL2D = C:\CutLogic\CL2D.fdb
•Open the file C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_2_5\firebird.conf and add this line to the end:
RemoteAuxPort = 3051
•Make sure that no firewall or antivirus is blocking ports 3050 and 3051
2. Copy the CutLogic 2D database file
All CutLogic 2D data is stored in the file CL2D.fdb.
•Locate the file in your current setup or at C:\ProgramData\TMachines\CL2D\CL2D.fdb
•Copy it to C:\CutLogic\CL2D.fdb on the computer where Firebird is installed
3. Configure workstations to use the LAN database
On each computer running CutLogic 2D:
•Start CutLogic 2D and select Tools > Database > Server
•Enter the computer name or IP address of the computer where Firebird is installed
4. Users
The default Firebird administrator login is sysdba, with the initial password masterkey. Although users can share this account, changing the default password and creating individual user accounts is recommended. To define users:
•Start CutLogic 2D and log in as sysdba
•Select Tools > Database > Users and create new user accounts
For convenience, you can store login credentials in C:\ProgramData\TMachines\CL2D\CL2D.ini, under the [Data] section. For example:
Username=jsmith
Password=
